I am new to Rhino/ RhinoGold and while using the head Studio notice a strange occurrence.
I attached a screen capture to show how the claws do not meet symmetrically. Using a square claw from the supplied library , un-checking the "enable" option for the the base ring and increased the bottom of the claw position to get them to curl inwards. Is this replicable on other computers or is something messed up in my settings?
I tried tweaking rotation of the claws but it is misaligned in the default settings.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Chris.

Permalink Reply by Ken Kauers on May 24, 2012 at 11:25pm The prong are usually not extended all the way down...only the top is important...I have found though, it is easiest to rotate them to meet once the head is completed and set.

I managed to rotate them by a factor of 2 in order for the tops to be straight but the base gets even more out of kilter.
So I guess it is only practical for fairly vertical claws, to bad it would have been convenient for basket or peg styles. This screen capture is the closest I could manage, just a little off on the base. Well no point in dwelling, I realize that it can be done manually if I really have my heart set on these styles.

Permalink Reply by Ken Kauers on May 26, 2012 at 1:02am I've been playing with this a bit. Using a round, adding a head, disabling the seat rings and leaving only the prongs. I made the prongs long enough to meet below the stone. Then after closing the head studio I ungrouped the prongs and used the align tool on opposite prongs... lined them up great. Let me know if it works for you.
Permalink Reply by Ken Kauers on May 26, 2012 at 1:53am Have tried it with 6 prongs also...the toughest part is determining the length you wish to have and the angle. When finished, and are completing aligning pairs of prongs just create a cutting plane at your desired bottom, trim the bottoms of the prongs and then cap them...I feel it works, but you could be expecting a different result. It seems to be an alignment problem so trying to correct with the head studio won't work because all of those tools work in relative positions to the cullet, and vertical axis of the stone.
