not saying it can't be milled but..... hey here's the tutorial on making a hand made clasp and the finished one I made I made it in silver and gold plated it a long time ago!

yes I have made them before including the hinge partby hand and on the mill.... I'll look up my file and send some pictures your way I also have a great tut on making a locket by hand...these are all exercises I did to add to my porfolio years ago.... and I do mean years ago before there even was a mill on the market! 

 found some old pictures..the tab on the top was a support I didn't cut off before taking the picture

I think it would be faster to buy a box clasp unless you needed it a 'special' size..a good exercise is to hand make it!..... I have a good tutorial for hand fabricating a box clasp I'll try and post the instructions ...you could not mill this....
